It's leap day! This special day happens only once every four years on Feb. 29. It's a way to make our calendar match up more closely with the time it takes for the Earth to orbit the sun. Normally, our calendar has 365 days, but the time it takes for the Earth to complete one orbit is a little bit more than that, about 365.25 days.
To make up for that extra fraction of a day, we add an extra "leap" day to the calendar every four years. Think of it as a little adjustment to keep our calendars accurate and make sure our seasons stay in the right place over the years. The last leap year was in 2020 (so much has happened in the world since then!), and the next one will be in 2028.

Like we said, we "heart" statistics and think they really matter! Statistics is more than just math or a way to analyze data. It's a way to think about the world in a principled fashion, see structure amidst the randomness of our reality, and interpret outcomes of what is unfolding before us.
