Originally developed in English, JMP's free online statistics course Statistical Thinking for Industrial Problem Solving (STIPS) has been translated into several other languages, including Chinese, Korean, and Japanese. For the past several months we've been working hard to release the course in Spanish as well. Module 1 in Spanish was released in July 2022; Module 2 in November 2022; and Module 3 in May 2023.
Today, we're proud to announce that Module 4 Decision Making with Data has also been published in Spanish. Module 4 continues the STIPS journey for students by teaching them about the tools used for drawing inferences from data. In the module, students learn about statistical intervals and hypothesis tests, as well as how to calculate sample size and see the relationship between sample size and power.
Providing this content in the native language advances one of the most important goals of STIPS, which is to increase statistical literacy worldwide, especially in the science and engineering communities. STIPS also offers companies an efficient and standard way to train data-driven decision-makers within their organizations and is an extremely useful course for students, which will help them better solve problems in their future workplaces.
The release of the fourth module continues a module-by-module approach to tackling our next language translation for the course. Though the first four modules are now available in Spanish, students don't have to wait for the release of others - they can continue their learning by taking additional modules in English. The plan is to continue to release additional modules in Spanish.
