>> MORE INFORMATION IN CONFLUENCE HERE: Everything you need to know about creating new success stories
Have a customer you think would be a great candidate for a success story? Here are the steps to make it happen.
STEP 1: DISCUSS WITH YOUR CUSTOMER.
Determine their interest in working with JMP to document their use case and successes. You’ll want to ask them up front to identify any stakeholders who will need to be involved in reviewing and approving the final product. Often this will be a PR or Marketing contact, and it’s always better to have this person involved in the conversation early.
STEP 2: IDENTIFY THE AUDIENCE.
Will this success story be publicly shareable? Or will it only be approved for circulation within the customer’s organization?
The story will be published on JMP.com, YouTube, social media channels, etc., and co-promoted by both JMP and the customer to build brand awareness.
The story will document successes and be used by the advocate to showcase the value of JMP to company leaders and/or promote JMP training/adoption. Note that if we’re going with this option, I’ll ask you to please provide the business justification (e.g., does it correspond with any upgrade/account expansion opportunities?).
We will create two different versions, starting with the internal success story and then creating a shorter, sanitized version for external publication.
STEP 3: DECIDE ON THE FORMAT.
Think about how your user/advocate will use this document – and how comfortable they are on camera.
STEP 4: SUBMIT A REQUEST VIA JIRA.
Please submit a request via :backhand_index_pointing_right: JMP.com/request :backhand_index_pointing_left:
Be sure to include all of the following information in your request:
-
Company Name
-
Key User’s Name
-
Proposed Content Type (Video, Written Narrative, or Written Q&A)
-
Audience (Internal, External, or Both)
-
Sales Opportunity & Business Justification (if Internal)
-
Customer Stakeholders (e.g., PR Contact) (if External)
STEP 4: INTRODUCE YOUR USER/ADVOCATE.
-
You connect me with your primary contact.
-
I work with them to agree on a date/time of the interview (most likely Zoom but could be in-person if during Discovery Summit or a User Group meeting).
-
I’ll prepare some interview questions and share them with the user ahead of the interview.
-
Interview takes place (no more than 45 minutes is required).
-
I edit and share a draft for the user to review and provide feedback.
-
I make any requested changes and send it back to the user for approval.
STEP 5: ASSIST WITH FOLLOW-UP IF NECESSARY.
Ultimately, the user is responsible for securing any necessary approvals from their management. We will not publish or circulate anything that hasn’t been approved. This step is often the most time-consuming, and we may need to work together to keep the project top of mind with your customer.
STEP 6: SHARE!
Once I have received the customer’s approval in writing, I will share a link to the published story and/or a downloadable file.
