"Red Matter" as a superconductorhttps://www.newscientist.com/article/2363376-red-matter-superconductor-could-transform-electronics-if-it-works/
I wonder if this is real?
Re: "Red Matter" as a superconductorSmells like cold fusion repackaged.
Re: "Red Matter" as a superconductorMany people may be thinking the same. The authors have been accused of altering data from a 2009 paper. Their recent paper in the Journal Nature has been pulled. Science published the following article about it
https://www.science.org/content/article/something-seriously-wrong-room-temperature-superconductivity-study-retractedhttps://www.science.org/content/article/criticism-room-temperature-superconductor-temporarily-removed-journal
Not sure if you need an AAAS membership to view. If you can see it, the article has links to other reports that highlight the controversy.
Would be cool if the research is legit!
Re: "Red Matter" as a superconductorI dabbled a bit in superconductors in my PhD, @chuck_boiler . One of my old colleagues who stayed doing research in that area has been posting a lot on LinkedIn about this story. I think it is fair to say that lots of people are very skeptical and the researchers have some questions to answer about how the evidence was produced from the raw data. I saw one presentation of some excellent forensic work that uncovered some potential problems with the data.
