What inspired this Wish List Request?
I am working with a customer transitioning from Minitab to JMP. In order to bring over the files, they are exporting Minitab workbooks into Excel Workbooks that have multiple tabs. They want to keep the look and feel of the tabbed workbook and JMP Projects are a good fit for this. The challenge is when they bring over many tabs and must save each data table individually in order to move it from the "Workspace" pane to the "Contents" pane. For instance, if they import all the files and only want to work on one tab.

Informal polling from other SEs suggested that there is not a straight-forward way to do this.
Please describe the new or improved feature or solution you would like to see.
The proposed improvement is have a batch save function that saves multiple tables at once to the Project contents. This could occur prior to opening a project or once the project is open. Or it could be a way to drag a file(s) from the Workspace into the Contents, automatically saving the files to that location. Another possibility would be to have a default file save location so that you only have to navigate the save prompt. And clicking yes would save to the default location, which could be set to the Project Contents.
What would the value be to you and/or other users if this new feature is provided?
The current workflow requires saving or closing each individual data table tab, which brings up a prompt for saving the table. Clicking yes to the prompt, brings up another prompt to select whether the table should be saved in the Project or externally. This is a tedious workflow when saving many tabs.
Is this an external customer request?
This is not a specific request, but came up during discussions with ITW Evercoat on how to efficiently transfer Minitab data into JMP.
There are likely better ways to handle this data (stacked with a column for month was proposed), however, they are already going through a big change with JMP and they are trying to make their workflows in JMP similar to Minitab, at least initially.
Is there a competitive software package that has this feature or solution that we should be aware of?
This is not really a feature issue between software, but a workflow and time saving issue. The Project has the functionality the customer requires.
Will this impact a renewal, expansion, or adoption at a customer, and does this put an account at risk if we do not address this?
