Questions Being Answered
- What insights about my process can I obtain from JMP’s capability results?
- Can JMP test for normality, handle different distributions and data collected in different subgrouping schemes?
- What options does JMP provide for analyzing the capability of multiple processes at the same time?
What is the Story/Scenario
A company that manufactures electrical components monitors the performance of 7 continuous processes on an ongoing basis to ensure each process is meeting specifications.
JMP Features and Platforms
- Distribution
- Manage Spec Limits
- Process Capability, Process Screening, and Control Chart Builder
Discovery Call Preparation, What to Ask and Possible Pain Points to Look For
- Difficulty determining if processes are meeting specifications by looking only at the raw data (without using a distribution to make an inference)
- Cumbersome to monitor multiple processes simultaneously on an ongoing basis if data from each process is analyzed manually, one at a time
- Looking only at numbers to evaluate processes can be unintuitive; JMP’s visualizations provide an intuitive interpretation of capability results.
Included Material
- Journal
- Limits.jmp

Tips for Delivering the Demo
- For customers that are already using Minitab, consider showing the control chart builder with capability analysis and column switcher first; the report will be relatively familiar to them and ability to switch columns will be new and exciting for them
- For customers that are already using Minitab, also consider showing the JMP Capability Explorer add-in, which is similar to Minitab's popular "capability sixpack": Capability Explorer - JMP User Community
