New Python integration in JMP 18 -- What's the low hanging fruit?

Hey hey SE people --

My Python is pretty rusty, but I'm starting to play with the new Python integration features in JMP 18. Any experienced Python programmers out there? Are there particular tools that you are excited to use with JMP? I'm curious about the "low hanging fruit" -- what can we teach users to do with Python, that is both simple and high-impact?

One fairly obvious use case: we can promote the idea of using JMP as a wrapper for existing Python scripts. JMP can provide both a UI front end for user input, and interactive graphing / exploratory data analysis of a Python script's output data. Do you think our customers have an appetite for this?

How about web scraping?

In the sense of a before/after delta, a maybe obvious one from our customer is time and effort saving in the distribution of python applications:

At the moment, the advanced users provide JMP and Python solutions to less advanced JMP users. This means, they need to setup a Python environment for those non-programmers (Jupyter Notebooks often).

After Python Integration (JMP 18), they don't have to spend extra time and effort for setting up the two different solution environments, because it's now possible to realize it within the JMP installation they have anyway.

See the example I've been working on.  It requires that you install the numpy and isotree python packages (see the jpip JSL example in the scripting index under Python to see how to do that).

I see a few use cases:

* Python programmers wanna program --> make it easier to run Python from JMP.  
* Wrap a python script with JMP interfaces and allow much easier connection to JMP data tables
* Data access:  there are many many python packages that let you open some rare, esoteric data format that we will never include in JMP.
