[Presentation summary]
As the title "Modern Approach" suggests, this book differs from traditional experimental design books in that it assumes the use of software (JMP). Author B. Jones is SAS' 'Doctor DOE', D. C. Montgomery is a professor at Arizona State University. In conventional experimental design books, the analysis results are mainly analysis of variance tables, but this book also shows JMP analysis results such as profiles, plots of predicted values and measured values, effect summaries, and residual plots. , readers can understand it intuitively and from multiple perspectives. The book covers all general topics, but the highlight is the screening plan (chapter 8). It is meaningful as it provides fairly in-depth suggestions regarding which experimental design practitioners should use. JMP's correlation color map, confounding matrix, and design generation rules help you understand difficult resolution concepts. It can be seen that DSD is a reasonable experimental design for experiments that mainly involve continuous quantities.
Differences in analysis results due to randomization, repetition, and block handling, how to deal with troublesome problems that often occur in practice such as missing value processing, trade-offs between main effect orthogonality and confounding optimality, and its historical background, etc. , rich in meaningful content. Split experimentation (SPD) is also written in an easy-to-understand manner.
[Presenter profile]
After working at Yamatake Honeywell (currently Azbil) as the FA development manager, Director and Research and Development Headquarters Manager, Director and Quality Assurance Promotion Headquarters Manager, and Advisor to Azbil Kimmon, he established Tobayashi Consulting. Specializes in yield improvement and quality improvement through production data analysis, general statistical problem solving such as market defect prediction, robust design, optimization design, and experimental planning, design review, root cause analysis (RCA), and prevention of human error. On-site guidance on prevention, process improvement, etc. His books include ``Essence of Internet Business'' (co-authored), published by Japan Science and Technology Association, 2001 (recipient of the Telecom Social Science Award), ``Practical Venture Business Success Strategy'' (co-authored), Chuokeizaisha, 2011 (co-authored), and ``An Easy-to-Understand Problem-Solving Book''. Nikkan Kogyo Shimbunsha 2014 (single author). The main paper is ``Proposal for a workshop to promote the dissemination and reception of awareness regarding near misses and discomfort on the production line,'' Quality Control Society 2016 [Received the 2016 Quality Technology Award]. Main lecture: “Proposal of a mechanism to visualize organizational factors that cause work errors and promote improvement” (Discovery-Japan 2018)
