My JMP IDHi,
We are now using My JMP ID as the authentication method for the Community rather than the SAS Profile. While we try to make the transition seamless, there are will undoubtedly be a few issues. If you encounter any problems related to this transition or know of users that are, please let me know.
Thanks.
Ryan
Re: My JMP IDI'd be interested in knowing why JMP went this route.
Re: My JMP IDWhich route are you curious about?
Moving away from the SAS Profile or the passwordless sign-in that My JMP ID provides?
My JMP ID is integrated with our CRM and will provide us with tighter integration with information stored there. My JMP ID will also be used for user-authorization for JMP 18 and beyond so all users will have a My JMP ID. That and more is why we moved away from SAS Profile.
The passwordless sign-in gives us confidence that the email address is valid and is an easier sign-in process.
Re: My JMP IDThe verification email went to quarantine, I doubt most users at my company will recognize that or take the time to figure out how to get around it.
Re: My JMP IDInteresting...study the email headers and go down the salesforce path.
I did sign in once on my phone. I'll save it for emergencies.
Re: My JMP IDIs it going to ask for verification every time? The second time I tried to log in it did the same thing.
Re: My JMP IDHasn't for me, but I feel like (it could definitely just be a feel thing) it does ask it for more often than password asked. But most likely it is just that it takes more effort to use this code than use a password when logging in from new location (open work laptop, sign-in, sign-in to vpn, open email, wait for for the code, write the code 1 number at the time).
To be honest, I'm more scared about this thing "My JMP ID will also be used for user-authorization for JMP 18" and I hope it can be totally ignored by using license files.
Re: My JMP IDIt will ask for verification every time you need to sign in. However, you should not have to sign in every time. If the session is inactive for more than 200 minutes, a user is set to be logged off. You should then be auto-signed in for up to 60 days after which you would need to manually sign in. To my knowledge, these settings should not be impacted by the new authentication method but I would need to investigate further to know for certain.
Re: My JMP IDUser-authorization is currently being used in the latest JMP 18 EA releases. You should not need to go thru the verification code every time you use JMP but will be asked to do so after so many days.
Re: My JMP IDI'm not sure why you say passwordless? It is a password created by JMP each time you sign in. I also don't understand why you say this is easier? I used to be able to use my password manager to autofill the log-in. Now I have to wait for the password to be sent to me via email. It would be better if it went to text as then it can be easily filled in without opening email. I understand change is inevitable, but I don't think the customer is who this change was intended for. I also don't like the idea I have to log-in to use the software to which I have a license?
Re: My JMP IDThis is 3 times out of 3 that I've needed to release an email from the Microsoft Quarantine in order to log on to this site. I'm probably not going to do it again, so email me if need any follow up here or anywhere else.
Not all of our machines that use JMP have access to the internet. If this becomes a requirement to use JMP itself, even if this quarantine thing is fixed, our use cases will shrink.

This is a very user-unfriendly idea for our users. Not a fan.
Re: My JMP IDHi @Ryan_Gilmore,
Completely agree with previous comments.
The new sign-in method is really a burden on smartphone (I had my password saved so previous authentification method didn't require to change windows, open my mails, copy-paste a password, ...) and the new user interface home page is really messy on smartphone.
Re: My JMP IDWe recently made a change that should help with being prompted to verify each time you are asked to sign in.
A solution is being developed for those machines that do not have access to the internet.
Re: My JMP IDI will say it seems to remember me better now. I noticed for a bit, new posts were bolder and easier to see. Seems this has gone back to a slightly darker grey and more challenging to discriminate.
