Broadcast Formulae like an Excel-UserHi all,
I have a customer who is deeply in love with Excel. I could help him let go in some instances, but one I was not too happy.
A very simple operation:
Say he has 10 columns and needs to multiply col 1 with each of the remaining:
Col 11 = col 1* col2
Col 12 = col 1 * col 3
...
In Excel, he creates the formula once, adds $ and just drags it across.
What's your go at outpacing Excel with JMP on that "broadcasting" capability example?
PS.: He is not a scripter.
Re: Broadcast Formulae like an Excel-UserBonjour Florian,
The trick here is to use Standardize Attributes. The Example of Standardizing a Formula shows how to use the Substitute Column Reference checkbox to accomplish this.
Re: Broadcast Formulae like an Excel-UserLet's start by stipulating that JMP is not Excel, and not meant to be like Excel.
That said, Standardize Attributes gets you the same result as what you describe. Example attached.

Re: Broadcast Formulae like an Excel-UserWonderful! Thanks @Jeff_Perkinson and @Jordan_Hiller, that really is easy!
And yes, JMP is NOT Excel...we are even planning to call the Getting Started Session for the new users like that...
