[Presentation summary]
This study analyzed data from a survey conducted in preparation for the doctor work style reform that will be implemented in April 2024 to optimize the way doctors work. The target hospitals for this study were 81 hospitals of the Saiseikai Foundation (22 licensed beds; 191 beds), which operates the largest public medical institution among social welfare corporations in Japan. Among them, responses were collected from 1468 full-time doctors at 76 hospitals using an anonymous self-administered questionnaire (response rate 35%). We created a regression tree using Classification and Regression Tree (CART), taking into consideration the bed function categories in published hospital bed function reports and the distribution of physicians responding to the questionnaire. As a result of the analysis, it was found that the hospital to which the employee belongs, the degree of fatigue of the doctor, and the degree of recovery from fatigue on holidays have the greatest impact on job satisfaction, which can be ascertained through self-reports such as working hours, whether there is a side job at a hospital, and the number of on-call and on-call duties. It was found that these indicators did not have a large direct impact. It was concluded that it is necessary to consider labor management so that physicians can maintain their health status, improve their job satisfaction, and provide high-quality medical care on a permanent basis.
[Presenter profile]
Since my second year at the Faculty of Nursing and Medical Sciences, I have been working on a satisfaction survey for first-time patients at a clinic, compiled the research results into a graduation thesis, and gave an oral presentation at Discovery Summit Japan 2021 (2021-JA-25MP-08). I am currently majoring in medical management in graduate school and am learning about data-based policy making and hospital management through classes such as ``Medical Policy and Management'' and ``Data-Interactive Hospital Management.'' In the first year of graduate school, I presented a factor analysis of the incidence of medical accidents regarding medical quality evaluation (2022-JA-25MP-07). In my second year master's thesis, I am working on analyzing data on the work style, health status, and job satisfaction of full-time doctors at hospitals run by the Saiseikai Foundation, in relation to the work style reform for doctors that will be implemented in 2024. . Starting next year, I will be working as a new graduate nurse at an emergency and emergency center in Okinawa, and I am enthusiastic about working in the clinical setting with a research perspective.
