Welcome to the JMP Development Update for November 17, 2023!
We are currently in Code Review Mode for JMP 18.0. All source code pushes must be reviewed and you should include your reviewer’s name in your change description. We will enter JMP 18 Code Approval mode at the end of the day on 11/22/23. Since we will be out of the office until Monday, 11/27/23, please hold your approval requests until then.
We are planning to freeze for JMP 18 EA7 on 12/8/23. Please update your feature pages to remove outdated content, update the Motivation and Summary section with important fix details, and add scripts and screenshots where needed. Mia mentioned that we don’t have very many EA videos for JMP 18. These videos are used to support internal training, and to help EA members understand how to use new features and interpret the results.
If you’ve not yet recorded a video for your new features or functionality in JMP 18, or if you’ve dramatically changed features that were initially released early in the JMP 18 development cycle, please consider recording a video to be shared with EA7. The deadline for new videos is Monday, Dec 11. See guidelines here, or reach out to Mia if you have any questions.
As a reminder, the JMP 19 branch will be created to match what is in main at the end of the day on 12/20/23. We do not plan to branch 18.1 until JMP 18 Code Freeze on 1/16/23. At that time, we’ll also be creating an 18.0.1 branch. It will be locked by default and is primarily for the purpose of collecting critical security fixes for third party libraries and addressing any showstopper level issues that can’t wait for 18.1.
Thanks very much to Bryan Boone, Neal Siekierski and (relatively) new host group member Chris Hesser for showing off the new JMP 18 data connectors framework in this week’s dev demo! If you missed the meeting, you can find the recording here. This multi-release effort introduces a new mechanism for customers to access various supported data sources with data connector scripts created by JMP developers and to create their own data connectors as well.
Thanks also to Tonya Mauldin for providing the detail of this week’s beta/crash tracks with crashes selected!

The session covered the fundamentals of reliability and highlighted potential sales opportunities. The team also walked through a role-play scenario, offering a practical glimpse into how a sales conversation around this capability might unfold. If you want to learn more about this training please visit the training page within the Sales Enablement Library. This was the last Sales Enablement training of the year, and we look forward to many more training sessions coming in 2024!
