[Presentation summary]
Pharmacovigilance (PV) is "the science and activities related to the detection, evaluation, understanding, and prevention of adverse effects of medicines or other problems associated with medicines."
This is an important task for pharmaceutical companies. Post-marketing surveillance (PMS) is a type of PV activity based on the characteristics of a drug, and is conducted based on an implementation plan.
In PMS, doctors fill out medical information on questionnaires and collect them in a database dedicated to the study. That information is collected in the data management (DM) process.
After coding, logic checking, re-examination, etc., the results are compiled in the analysis department. The process from DM to analysis was multi-step, and unexpected data came in.
In such cases, a lot of time is spent investigating the cause and dealing with it. Additionally, it was difficult to confirm the results unless they were converted into a form using a SAS program. Therefore, use JMP
started. JMP's interactive visualization and analysis functions allow data monitoring (discovery of irregularities) and cause analysis with personnel in non-analysis departments.
This facilitated examinations and contributed to smoother operations. Currently, the data quality of the side effect information management database, which collects all safety information including PMS data, is
To improve this, we are also trying to automate preprocessing using Workflow Builder. In this presentation, I would like to introduce some of these and discuss the prospects for utilizing JMP.
