November is Native American Heritage Month (NAHM), also referred to as American Indian Heritage Month, a time to recognize the diverse cultures, rich histories, accomplishments, and contributions of Native Americans.
To honor this month, JMP’s own Alisa Hunt-Lowry joins Brandi Davis, Seth Locklear, and Sandon Jacobs, along with Executive Director of the North Carolina American Indian Heritage Commission, Kerry Bird, for an engaging conversation about their experiences and perspectives.

This interactive event is a great opportunity for you to learn more about indigenous culture and traditions, especially in North Carolina, and to get answers to your frequently (sometimes, fearfully) asked questions. Be sure to join this conversation on on Wednesday, Nov. 29, 11 a.m.-noon, in EBC-150 in Building C.
Check out the full story on Inside SAS for additional resources and to register for the event.
But you don't have to wait until Nov. 29 to commemorate the month. For anyone near Cary, the North Carolina Museum of History will host the 27th Annual American Indian Heritage Celebration on Saturday, Nov. 18, with a fun-filled in-person festival with demonstrations, presentations, and performances highlighting the traditional and contemporary artistic, scientific, historic, and cultural contributions of American Indians in North Carolina. The American Indian Heritage Commission provides several resources for learning and exploration.
