Last week, the UK Users Group met at GSK in Stevenage. On a wet and windy morning, 128 attendees braved the elements to be treated to presentations from JMP, GSK, Solvay, and AkzoNobel.
Calling it “a fantastic event,” European Sales Director Adrian Turner (@adrianturner) was delighted with the turnout and takeaways: “I have been to many, many users group meetings at JMP, and this was probably the best one! There were so many positives to highlight, but the outstanding learning for me was being reminded of the importance of face-to-face meetings.”

Adrian continued, “It was wonderful to see so many happy and enthusiastic JMP customers and to get the chance to speak with them face to face, rather than online. The quality of the conversations and the chance to learn from each other was so much greater because the event was live. The value of a face-to-face meeting must not be underestimated when it comes to really understanding what is important to your customer and how you should sell to address that need.”
One unexpected bonus, said Account Executive Ferenc Meszaros (@ferenc_meszaros), was users’ excitement over the upcoming Discovery Summit Europe in Manchester next year. “Users who have been to Discovery Summit told the audience why they should make sure to register for the next Discovery Summit Europe. It is very powerful when the value statement is coming from users.”
Ferenc expected the benefits to keep rolling in. “Since the meeting, I have had multiple emails from our customers telling me how they started implementing things that they learned during the event, like using the Workflow Builder to automate routine analysis. They’ve also started the process of establishing their own internal users group to support existing users and generate awareness across their organizations.”
Adrian agreed: “From a sales perspective, our territory has uncovered many opportunities for both JMP and JMP Pro. Most of our customers have been blown away by the value of Functional Data Explorer and Functional DOE.”

“All of the JMP teams did such a good job to contribute to that success: User Enablement and Marketing planned, promoted, managed, and delivered a great event; Sales teams worked with their customers to get really good papers and then drove registration to get such a good attendance,” concluded Adrian.
“There was fantastic engagement with the crowd after each presentation,” said Christopher Sanger, JMP Events Project Manager. “The feedback has been universally positive. We have already had offers from several attendees to host next year’s meeting.”
As Ferenc succinctly summed it up, “It was a very powerful event.”
