Welcome to the JMP Development Update for November 3, 2023!
Thanks to all who have been testing the new authorization mechanism with JMP Pro 18 EA6 and the JMP 18 nightly windows builds! This wide-ranging feature has been truly a team effort. If you have yet not tried an authorized installer for JMP 18 yet, please do try EA6 and report any issues you encounter to jmpbeta@jmp.com. Thanks very much to Jeff Perkinson, Wendy Murphrey and Daniel Powell for helping work through authorization issues encountered by internal and external users!
A reminder that JMP 18 EA7 is planned for 12/8/23. With the Thanksgiving holiday coming this month, we’ll be there before you know it! Please update any motivation and summary sections on feature pages with important fix details that you’d like to share with customers and note that they’re for EA7.
Thanks very much to the JMP Live team for presenting on their JMP 18 additions at yesterday’s JMP Dev meeting! Team leader Eric Hill kicked off the presentation and shared the stage with numerous JMP Live developers as they presented JMP 18 improvements. If you missed the meeting, you can find a recording here.
Speaking of recordings, if you were not at JMP Discovery Summit in Indian Wells, CA, you’ll be glad to know that you can find the Angling, Wrangling, and Untangling Data keynote here on the JMP Community! This presentation features John Sall, Michael Hecht, Michael Goff, Andrea Coombs, and Julian Parris.
Thanks to Tonya Mauldin for creating these combined beta reports for EA1 through EA5! Two graphs are below but many more graphs can be seen on this JMP Live page. Please note that all SAS/JMP employees were excluded from the two graphs below.
This treemap of subtopic summarizes the areas of interest from Salesforce EA cases.

This heatmap of contact name vs EA version helps us see whether customers are using and submitting feedback for more than 1 EA.

Also, here’s a graph of beta feedback from 10/13/23 through today with crashes selected.

JMP Development Updates
Product Management and Product Marketing
- Kaylee: On October 30th there was a Sales and Marketing Training for JMP 18 put together for the Sales Enablement Training Series. The Product Management team took time to go through some of the major features that were coming in JMP 18 and the key benefits, target audiences, and keywords to listen for. On November 3rd there was another Sales Enablement Training on the License Authorization process that is coming for JMP 18. Jeff Perkinson took the time to walk through what the new process looks like, and then held a Q&A session after the presentation. You can find more information (including recordings) on these trainings in the training series schedule within the Sales Enablement Library.
Stat Testing
- Tonya: Working on beta feedback. I have had lots of email about authorization issues and out of office/undeliverable emails. Also testing short run control charts, organizing CCB Jira tickets using labels, and verifying Jiras.
Technical Support
- Duane: Wendy’s team has been dealing with authorization and My JMP issues this week (as you already know!). Here is a statement she shared with me earlier that is directed towards JMP employees:
JMP employees with Salesforce logins are to access the downloads from the 9 dot menu and type My JMP in the search. This will take you to My JMP.
As for using JMP 18 EA6 and beyond, we are still working on that for staff with Salesforce licenses. I'm being told that we will be moving to SSO very soon.
If you are unable to use the non-Authorized version of the EA6 and since we do not yet have a specific date for SSO, you can go to jmp.com/earlyadopter and register a personal email address. Once you are accepted into the program, you will be able to download, install, and authorize using your personal email address.
Here are the TS JMP Live reports and the link to the Jira filter showing the tickets reported by TS for the last 14 days.

Note from Shannon
Hope you all have a wonderful weekend! And just for the last few bits of Halloween fun - my 12 year old enjoyed this video of YouTube stat Mark Rober and his engineering collaboration with Jimmy Kimmel as they worked to defeat Halloween candy stealers. And I guess this approach is fine, if you only have the one factor… :smiling_face_with_smiling_eyes:
