JMP Community is the main hub for learning resources for JMP Users. Additionally, You Tube is one way to increase access to video learning resources and drive You Tubers from content on You Tube to the JMP Community.
You Tube Goals
- Tap an audience who uses You tube as the go-to location for instructions and video learning materials.
- When we embed You Tube videos in the Community, JMP can get data on views and source of views. This view include views from within the JMP Community. We have a reporting process for identifying direct hits from a Community page, also.
- Enable You Tube Managers to download videos so they don’t have to keep .mp4 duplicate copies. NOTE: We can’t download .mp4 currently embedded in Community.
- Allow users to use auto-captions and auto-translations.
- Time stamp and define subtitles so users can automatically go to an topic within the video. See for example: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5z_Ejv5F9O0 NOTE: We can’t easily do this in the JMP Community.
Guidelines for Identifying User Videos for You Tube
- Video purpose and content must be educational, not promotional/marketing.
- Video description must include short, technical description of the video.
- Video must link to related information in the JMP Community.
- Videos should be less than 10 minutes. If longer, like Mastering videos, they must include links to specific parts (each less than 10 minutes, if possible) of the video.
- Videos must be reviewed annually and either replaced or deleted if no longer relevant.
- Text style and length, link location and thumbnail must be consistent across the Playlist.
- Playlists/topics must be updated regularly on a schedule.
- Reports must be run regularly and examined quarterly for Continuous quality Improvement for the Playlist and JMP Channel.
- User enablement will coordinate featured Playlists with Marketing Team, Sarah Cromer Manager.
