What inspired this Wish List Request? Use a reference spectra as the background for other spectra. This is commonly used in spectral processing to remove the background and just look at the signal. Often times a background signal from the system or media that is not useful to analysis. NovoNordisk recently reached out and wanted to do this subtraction during the data processing step.
Please describe the new or improved feature or solution you would like to see. I would suggest this looks just like the load target function only have it be a load background spectra. I would put this under the spectral tab in the data processing commands in FDE.

Instead of trying to match a target this would just subtract the background from each spectra. This would remove the requirement to do this manually.
What would the value be to you and/or other users if this new feature is provided? This is a standard feature found inside of signal processing software if we are claiming we can do signal processing this should be a feature we can easily do inside of JMP.
Is this an external customer request? Yes NovoNordisk, Christian Zachariassen CSBZ@novonordisk.com
Is there a competitive software package that has this feature or solution that we should be aware of? MatLab
Will this impact a renewal, expansion, or adoption at a customer, and does this put an account at risk if we do not address this? For NovoNordisk this is a sticking point for a few users to move to JMP from MatLab.
