Context before content: A phrase I encountered several years ago has stuck with me, and essentially has become how Product Marketing has been building core sales messages ever since. The Analytic Workflow is the context of our capabilities, The Analytics Advocate Guide is the context of how JMP supports analytic growth and maturity, Leveraging JMP is the context of how JMP supports organizations beyond the user, and Engineering Efficiency is the context of how JMP streamlines science and engineering processes.
Becoming more efficient with data is the goal of every organization and something that our teams talk about on a daily basis in various ways, but now we are trying to put a “bow” or “wrapper” around it. We are giving something that has been part of our mission since day 1 (“Helping scientists and engineers speed innovation by enabling better decisions with analytics”) a name and a story.
What is a core message?
A core message is a global, agreed upon universal message, along with a recommended strategy and clear tactics for use. The goal of our core messages is to drive the adoption and impact of JMP and, ultimately, account expansion. They are meant to address problems that customers and their organizations struggle with, that they ask us about, that they want our support and partnership and how JMP is uniquely positioned to help. When core messages are developed in this way, it allows for our strongest stories to be elevated, adopted and syndicated, making for a more cohesive, effective message. And this is exactly what we are hoping to do with Engineering Efficiency in the next year.
What is Engineering Efficiency?
We are defining Engineering Efficiency as the ability to move from problem identification to a solution with analytics as quickly and cost-effectively as possible. JMP helps scientists and engineers achieve Engineering Efficiency and accelerate innovation by enabling better decisions with data. This is a learning cycle and the faster that organizations complete this learning cycle the happier their customers, the better they can bring new products to market, and the quicker they can stabilize those products once they are in production.
JMP supports Engineering Efficiency in a multitude of ways (almost too many to count) and we see the impact of those efficiencies in every single one of our customer stories.
What Engineering Efficiency means to our customers:
- Solve problems quicker.
- More time for innovation and the things you were hired to do.
- Less time on tedious tasks.
- Helping drive improvements, maximizing value and impact within their team and organization.
What is our strategy with this message?
Similar to other core messages, we are looking to build out the story with the goal of adoption and syndication, as well as gather feedback at each step. The page is only the first piece with more yet to come:
- Highlight message at both the Japan and Korea Discovery events (Nov 2023).
- Add page to jmp.com menu for all languages. Currently only linked from "Why" menu and from the JMP Overview page.
- Build sales tools (powerpoints and talking points).
- Host sales enablement training to talk through message and how sales teams can incorporate and deliver.
- Develop syndication plan with marketing.
- Iterate and improve.
What can sales do now?
- Review the Engineering Efficiency page (jmp.com/efficiency) and share the page with customers. Share this page on your channels.
- As PMM partners with marketing on syndication, what would you like to see with this message? How would you like to share this message with your customers? In what format? In what way?
- Provide any and all feedback to Sara Doudt.
Thank you to everyone who has helped shape the message thus far!
