T07 Configuring and restoring postgreSQL databases on Mac (Koprowski)Install the postgreSQL database and associated ODBC driver
Use all defaults when possible.

RESTORE THE SAMPLE DATABASES
The steps for restoring a postgreSQL database on a Mac are fairly easy to replicate.
- Copy the attached "PostgreSQL-MAC-SampleDBs.backup" file to your local drive.
- The file contains some sample databases and data tables from the JMP sample library
- Navigate to the postgres database and right-click and select Restore.

3. Click the .... button and navigate and locate the file you saved in step 1 above.

4. Click the Restore button.
5. After the restore has been completed go ahead and close the restore database window.
Training MaterialsRe: T07 Configuring and restoring postgreSQL databases on Mac (Koprowski)@stan_koprowski,
Postgres is now at version 13.2. We might want to update this page for the newest version as well as where to get the latest ODBC Manager. Since macOS 11 is out, it would be helpful to test the instructions for the new OS. I am trying but I get errors installing (something about shortcuts not installing).
The package in this post not longer installs on Big Sur. I have trying to install 13.2 but at the end I get this error message "A non-fatal error occur whilst creating menu shortcuts."
and then this message "Problem running post-install step. Installation may not complete correctly. Failed to start the database server."
Also, how does one install the postgresODBC driver?
Thanks,
Re: T07 Configuring and restoring postgreSQL databases on Mac (Koprowski)Hi Stan,
In attempting this using a newer version of postgres (9.6) I'm running into an error on the restore segment. At first it could not find the location of the pg_dump binaries. I managed to find the path to be "/Library/PostgreSQL/9.6/bin/"
Now I'm getting the error that it cannot find the backup file for restoration when it is in fact present. Any thoughts on how to resolve?
