JMP takes a stand for sustainable business practices
Perhaps you know that we strive to make environmentally sustainable business decisions whenever possible. But when we heard the United Nation’s recent rallying call to protect and revive the world’s ecosystems, we were compelled to answer in a more formal way.
As a result, we are joining the UN’s Decade on Ecosystem Restoration and launching a new program called “Data for Green: JMP Ecosystem Restoration Initiative.”
We are making the announcement on Earth Day, which is Thursday of this week. We need your help to make a splash on social media. Simply share posts from official JMP channels and/or from SAS Voice Storm; write your own inspirational stories if you’re motivated to do so; and boost your colleagues’ Earth Day posts by commenting and sharing them. The UN asks that you use the #GenerationRestoration hashtag and, of course, we encourage you to also use #JMPsoftware, #SASlife, #DataforGood, #DataforGreen, you get the idea...make sure your messages are seen. The Web page will live at this easy-to-remember URL: www.jmp.com/green
Earth Day is just the beginning of this initiative. We plan to roll out additional pieces to strengthen our green alliances, gain more momentum toward carbon neutrality, and find ways to be heard above the noise.

What does this mean for JMP employees?
- If you’re in sales, look for prospects in this Salesforce campaign. They are there because they say they’re interested in using JMP for conservation. Please follow up with these prospects with the upmost care and do your best to get JMP in their hands.
- If you spend any time on social media, we need your help on Earth Day and beyond. You can always share posts from official JMP channels and/or from SAS Voice Storm; it’s easy to comment on and share colleagues’ posts.
- If you like playing with data, you’re in luck. We need people to dig into our own data; people to work with customers on best practices for analyzing green data; people to post related content on public.jmp.com.
- If you like looking for trends and patterns, you will be able to watch our progress via Data for Green dashboards as soon as we have them ready.
- You may notice a shift in vendors that we do business with as we do more with like-minded companies and less with those who are uninterested in conservation.
- You will see more environmentally responsible policies, practices and food/beverage options when we resume hosting in-person events.
- In the future when travel is an option, you will be in good company when you explore ways to conduct business virtually instead of in person.
- You can be proud of working for an organization that puts people (and the world on which we live) ahead of profits.

What does that mean for our customers?
We will work to get JMP in the hands of green analysts at customer sites. By connecting our super users with not-yet-users, we can spread the use and impact of JMP at existing accounts.
We will share sustainability best practices with any interested JMP users; and we will connect JMP users across organizations and geographies.
We will help get the word out about our customers who are using JMP to analyze their green data. That could be via success stories, social media, Discovery Summits and more.
What does that mean for prospective customers?
- This gives corporations, non-profits, universities, research institutions, government agencies, etc. another great reason to adopt JMP for their data analyses needs.
