Formula 1 (F1) is the world’s most elite international motorsport competition, combining automotive engineering with statistical strategy. In many ways, the sport is a proving ground for engineering innovation, with major industry players using their partnerships with race teams to develop bleeding-edge advancements in everything from materials technology to aerodynamics and vehicle safety. The sport is also working toward ambitious sustainability targets including 100% sustainably-fueled power units by 2025 and becoming fully net carbon zero by 2030. In fact, all F1 cars in the 2023 season run a hybrid power unit.
Though F1 was founded in Europe, in recent years the sport has exploded in popularity globally, with audiences younger and more diverse than ever before. The combination of a rapidly growing audience, the sport's move toward sustainability, and its alignment to JMP's focus on engineering and statistics, make the conversation around Formula 1 an area in which JMP can shine.
We are therefore excited to announce that JMP has entered an official partnership with engineer and content creator Mirco Bartolozzi! Mirco is a PhD candidate in the University of Pisa’s Smart Industry Program specializing in automotive safety research and testing. Growing up an avid F1 fan and Scuderia Ferrari supporter in his native Italy, Mirco began analyzing F1 telemetry data in 2010, at first purely as a hobby. In 2022, he created the channel Formula Data Analysis to share data insights with other F1 fans around the world. Previously an experienced Python coder, we are happy to report that Mirco now uses JMP!
