Meet Candice Gervase, our Salesforce team manager here at JMP! She spends her days building out our new company technology stack and infrastructure. She loves the challenge that each new day on the job brings as she builds this infrastructure from the ground up.
Fun fact: Candice has been a part of the SAS family for longer than JMP has even been around! She went to daycare on SAS' campus from the age of six weeks until she started Kindergarten. We are so glad that she chose to continue her journey now as part of the JMP family.
Let's learn a little more about Candice!
Where were you born?
Raleigh, NC (big Wake Med Hospital)
Where do you live/work now?
I live in Holly Springs, NC, and work out of the Cary HQ office
Candice loves to travel! Here she is with her children and husband at a trip to Disney World. “Minnie Mouse is one of my favorite characters and always love a good trip to Disney,” she said.Candice loves to travel! My first job was working at the Belk department store in Cary Towne Center Mall during the holiday season in High School. So sad to see it torn down. Before that, I was babysitting neighbors and my sister since I was 10.
What do you enjoy about your job?
There are several things, but I absolutely love the people I work with and how helpful and friendly everyone is. I also love helping build the infrastructure from the ground up - it's very exciting but challenging and always something new to learn.
List three of your favorite hobbies.
Travel, travel, travel. Did I mention travel? I also love to play softball and watch any sports either in person or on TV.
Describe yourself in three words.
Well, it depends on who you ask. I'll let the new DigiOps interns and the Salesforce Team decide.
What book are you reading?
I'm about halfway through Sheryl Sandberg's book "Lean In", but there isn't much time for my own personal reading. Currently, I've been reading "Look Out Kindergarten. Here I Come" morning and night with my daughter who started Kindergarten in July. Happy to quote it from memory for anyone interested.
What is your favorite movie genre?
I love all movies, except for Horror. My absolute favorite movie genre is comedy. I always love a good laugh, and Arthur (the original) and Rush Hour are two of my absolute favorites. I also love military movies or gangster movies like A Few Good Men, Annapolis, The Godfather, and Goodfellas. Anytime I'm looking for something on TV, and those movies are on TV, I will most likely be watching them again.
What is the first web page you go to when you start work?
Salesforce.com, of course.
If you could have a dinner party with five famous people, who would they be?
So many to choose from individually, but I'd have to go with the whole Spice Girls group to re-live my teen and pre-teen years. I think the Spice Girls would be so chaotic but a whole lot of fun. It would be a memorable dinner party (or just a party) for sure.
What is your favorite podcast to listen to?
Anything Salesforce related
Name one JMP-related achievement that you’re proud of.
One of the biggest JMP-related achievements is the launch of the new quote-to-cash process. The Salesforce team worked so hard to implement several different products and processes all at one time, and did an amazing job! So proud to see everything come together and be released to other regions around the world. It's a game-changer for JMP, and I'm so excited to be a part of it.
Name one thing most of your colleagues would be surprised to know.
In addition to attending SAS daycare from six weeks old until I started Kindergarten, I also worked at SAS as a summer camp counselor on campus, volunteered in the daycare, and worked as a marketing intern. SAS has always been a part of my life and I'm so excited to continue that journey and my career with the SAS and JMP family.
A throwback to Candice’s graduating class from Children's House daycare on SAS campus. Can you spot her in the photo? “I keep in touch with some of these people still to this day!,” she said.A throwback to Candice’s graduating class from Children's House daycare on SAS campus. Name one other person in the division who you admire and describe why in three sentences or fewer.
It's impossible to choose just one, but I would say the entire Salesforce team. So much change has been thrown at them over the last couple of years, and they have handled all of it as best they could and did an amazing job. I really admire their flexibility, dedication, and willingness to always learn new things.
A recent trip last December to an Ice Room that was decorated with all the popular scenes from the movie "A Christmas Story" (one of Candice’s favorites). “Everything was made of ice, and it was well below freezing temperatures, so we had to wear a parka,” she said. “It was the coldest temperature I have ever been in at -9 degrees Fahrenheit.”A recent trip last December to an Ice Room that was decorated with all the popular scenes from the movie "A Christmas Story" (one of Candice’s favorites). “Everything was made of ice, and it was well below freezing temperatures, so we had to wear a parka,” she said. “It was the coldest temperature I have ever been in at -9 degrees Fahrenheit.”This or that?
