Richard Peal started his tech career as a Unix System Administrator and Database Administrator. Later, as a consultant working for federal agencies, he implemented procurement software for the Department of Defense traveling across the United States to Navy, Army, and Air Force bases and sites.
He began focusing on Analytics as the project manager and DBA for the IRS Compliance Data Warehouse (the first successful data warehouse at the IRS) where he supported SAS users. Since then he has sold, and led teams selling, technical consulting services, procurement software as a service, analytics software, and cloud (capacity as a service). Most recently, he drove the adoption of satellite imagery data and insights to Federal Agencies in various sales/BD roles.
In his spare time, Richard likes to stay on top of what is happening in technology and how it's being used across industries, such as with AI. He also regularly goes to the gym and enjoys mountain biking and golfing.
When his great-grandfather came to the United States from South Korea, his last name was adapted to Peal. "In Korean, it actually is closer to Pil," Richard said. "It's an uncommon Korean last name which has led to a lot of surprised looks when I've only exchanged emails or phone calls, then meet in person for the first time. Interestingly, people commonly mistake it for Pearl."
