Hi all,
i am trying to understand why Summarize need two places data reference? Below example shows the dt reference in the
summarize(a=by( column(dt, col) ) ); summarize(dt, b=quantile (col, 0.5) );
In earlier versions of JMP Summarize() didn't take a data table argument and relied on the Current Data Table(). This led to situations where the behavior of Summarize() was somewhat unpredictable.
In modern versions of JMP Summarize() can take a data table argument either as the first argument or in the Column() specifications. You don't need it in both. Either will work.
@ram, Would you kindly explain what you are after with a proper question and a clear example ?
Thanks.
i still experience a wierd problem. what is difference between syntex 1 and 2. both are same except the 1 have "LOT_SHORT" and 2 have :LOT_SHORT.
1. Summarize(dtoutput, lotshort_sum = By("LOT_SHORT" ) ); // works
2. Summarize(dtoutput, lotshort_sum = By(:LOT_SHORT ) ); // works only once
