One comment regarding tailoring the Online Discovery to Beginning JMP users. Our sales team has been promoting the Discovery Summit, both the In-Person and the Online for the last couple of months to generate interest. This change in focus will come as a surprise and as a bit of a let down for many customers who have been JMP users long-time and were looking forward to the Online Summit. In fact, that is how I learned about this, from a customer... not a good look.
If we had known this earlier, we could have tailored our messaging to our customers appropriately earlier on. The one day before registration opened did not really provide any opportunity for that.
For significant changes to the format of the online and in-person Summits, please inform the sales teams as early as possible, so we can help generate interest and set expectations for our customers.
Discovery Americas registration is open!Discovery Summit is a best-in-class conference series that invites some of the brightest minds in statistics to share their love of data, network with like-minded peers, and communicate best practices in a setting designed to stoke curiosity, connection, and innovation.
This year, we’re doing things a little differently – starting with a special Early User Edition of Discovery Summit via Zoom from Sept. 13-14, tailored for JMP beginners. Following the Early User Edition of Discovery Summit, we will convene in Indian Wells, CA for the in-person segment of Discovery, designed for JMP users of all skill levels. This in-person segment will take place Oct. 16-19 at the Hyatt Regency Indian Wells in beautiful Indian Wells California.
Registration for the general attendees and customers for both events opens Tuesday, Aug. 1.
Why attend in person?
We all know that innovation happens best when interactions take place face-to-face. So we want to encourage customers and prospects to attend our in-person segment this year. There are so many reasons to attend, but we’ve created a video and gathered information to help you when recruiting customers and prospects to attend!
Location is key
Indian Wells is not only a picturesque place to host a Discovery event, but its location also provides easy access for travelers! Indian Wells is only 20 minutes from the Palm Springs International Airport, within 100 miles of 12 major cities in California, and there are 300+ JMP customers within that same 100-mile radius.
Timing is everything
The in-person event will take place in mid-October. This time of year is significant because the climate is ideal in southern California – mild temperatures and a low chance of rain – and October also has no major holidays for customers to work around when traveling. Most importantly, hosting the event in Q4 gives Sales the opportunity to impress prospects and users before the end of the year.

On a positive note, we hope sales will see this as an opportunity to bring newer JMP users into the Discovery Summit community of helpers. It's an interactive and fun way to get into the JMP groove. Of course, experienced JMP users are welcome to attend -- good reminders of how to do things and access to product people!
