Multiple Response column for categorical data summarized using "Summary" off the tables menuThere are times when I want to know all the values a categorical column has when summarized by a grouping variable. For example, in Big Class, table Summary with group by :sex and :name results in 39 rows, 18 with sex = F and 21 with sex = M. What if I want 2 rows, one for each gender, with the names in a multiple response column? I don't think this is possible to do without scripting, or at least it's very difficult to do.
Another option is to add two more table operations, stacked data to multiple response and multiple response to stacked data.

For the example provided…. Split the “name” column by “Sex”, then Transpose. This gives two rows of data, one for each sex with each name in its own column. To get the names into a single multiple response column, select all name columns and use Combine Columns.
This produces exactly what the requester wants albeit with a couple of operations, but no scripting needed and not very time consuming.
