Meet the Interns: Bradley Taber
Manager: Lori Casto (@lori_casto)
Brad Taber is a Business major with a concentration in Finance at George Washington University. Located in Raleigh, he is working at JMP as an Inside Sales Intern in the JMP Inside Sales Department.
"I am thrilled to have Bradley working on projects to re-engage JMP and JMP PRO trials," says Lori Casto, Director of JMP Inside Sales Americas. "Brad has researched and enriched the contact data so he can more directly engage them with relevant information. Bradley is working with Sales Teams to actively schedule meetings from this re-engagement campaign. It is exciting to see his progress in connecting with contacts/leads and securing sales meetings while gaining more insight into the accounts with his conversations."
Letâs learn a little more about Brad.
What made you want to intern at JMP?
Last summer I worked at a financial institution where I was tasked with optimizing their sales outreach process. Through this work, I was introduced to the world of data analytics and the accessibility of endless key insights that can transform a business. I quickly learned that in order to derive these insights, you need to implement the right tools and tech-stack. My newly found interest of optimization through data combined with my desire to work in a client-facing role made this intern position the perfect fit.
As a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up?
I wanted to be an architect starting at age 6-7. This stemmed from my love of building Star Wars Lego sets. I believe I asked my parents what job allowed me to build Legos for a living and I was determined to make that my career!
What's something most people don't know about you?
I play Piano, Drums, and Guitar.
Of the places you've visited, what's your favorite?
My family and I went on a weeklong Safari in South Africa. That was definitely one of the most unique and amazing experiences I have ever had.
During Brad's senior year of high school, he participated in a relay called Hood to Coast. In teams of 12 people, someone had to be running at all times until 200 miles had been completed, starting at that top of Mt. Hood, Oregon. With the goal of raising money for the American Cancer Society, 11 of his classmates and him completed the race over a 3-day period. What are you most excited about this internship?
I am excited to observe real time sales cycles as well the opportunity to speak and interact with existing/prospective customers.
What do you hope to accomplish during this internship?
I hope to build a foundational understanding of data analysis and become comfortable enough to recognize utilization cases while listening to customer goals/pain points.
If you could splurge on one item and cost was no object, what would you buy?
I would buy an electronic sampling pad with endless sound choices (this is how you can electronically make a song with any instrument you can imagine).
What would be the title of your autobiography?
New Songs are Created From Playing Wrong Notes
What advice would you give prospective intern applicants?
When showcasing your previous work experience, emphasize what skills and passions you developed along the way. While the specific tasks and work you have done are important, they don't tell as detailed of a story about what makes you stand out!
