Installing EXCEL Addin after JMP 13 Installation<meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=UTF-8" />Hello,
previous versions of JMP were delivered with an EXCEL Addin installer package. This could be run to install the JMP Addin for EXCEL. Now in 13 there's only a dll file. How can that be installed?
Thanks
Bernd
Re: Installing EXCEL Addin after JMP 13 Installationsometimes the IT does not want the add-in to be installed (at least in the past this was the case, not sure if they choose so with JMP 13), but some users then ask for it and either IT or themselves need to reinstall it. The note is great to point to. If possible there should be a reference in both notes to the other in case someone just founds the one in a search.
Re: Installing EXCEL Addin after JMP 13 InstallationTo be clear, the problem is that the Excel add-in will only work for the user that installs JMP 13. In order to get it installed for ALL users on a machine you'll need to use the tools referenced in the SAS Note above. Please refer all customers to the SAS Note.
BTW: This is considered a bug in our installer and will be addressed in JMP 13.1.
Re: Installing EXCEL Addin after JMP 13 InstallationHello,
no concerns ☺
A customer got JMP installed by his IT people and the EXCEL ADDIN was not there. I didn’t know where to find that information. With the hint towards setup I found one way to get to the right information.
From C:\Program Files\SAS\JMPPRO\13 run the JMPInstallChecker.exe. It lists all JMP installers:
JMP Installers
File System Location
C:\Program Files (x86)\InstallShield Installation Information
Registry Location
HKLM\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall
{C124E07B-BC34-4C79-8C0F-969637525D32}
JMP 12 Annual License
{F2AECD2E-225D-4502-8717-4CFCC55D95EB}
JMP 12 Pro Annual License
{DE242C53-43E5-4277-A57A-9D3321C1DE28}
JMP 13 Early Adopter
{4DC2278F-75CE-4316-A76B-F5206C1CEE02}
JMP 13 Pro Annual License
In the file system location you find the subdirectory with the version type you are looking for. There is the appropriate Setup. I’ll ask the customer to test this and keep you updated.
Best regards
Bernd
Re: Installing EXCEL Addin after JMP 13 InstallationOh...and if the add-in isn't showing up after installing JMP 13 see this Tech Support Note:
Installation Note 59114: The Excel add-in for JMP® 13 is missing from the Excel menu
Symptom:
The JMP® tab does not appear in the Excel menu. There is a known issue with JMP 13.0 that causes the Excel add-in for JMP to only appear for the Windows user account that installs JMP. Any other user account that accesses the machine and JMP cannot see the JMP tab in Excel.
Solution:
The file below needs to be downloaded and run as an administrator. The tool is dependent upon the type of JMP product on your machine:
After downloading the file, you must right-click the executable and choose "Run as Administrator"
Re: Installing EXCEL Addin after JMP 13 InstallationThe Excel add-in is now installed fully by the regular JMP installer. There is no standalone Excel add-in installer any longer.
To install it you'll need to run the JMP installer, SETUP.EXE.
bob.hickey may be able to provide more information.
Is there a concern? Under what circumstances was the Excel Add-in installer useful?

Re: Installing EXCEL Addin after JMP 13 InstallationBut to run a dll on windows you might use the command line approach through windows start -> run -> cmd (to get the DOS window), then type rundll.exe . Here is some more information I found in the web:
Rundll32 or Rundll32.exe is a Microsoft Windows command line utility that performs functions within a dynamic link library file. Rundll32 is responsible for running .dll files and placing the DLL libraries inside your computer system's memory. The Rundll32.exe is on Microsoft Windows versions 95, 98, 2000, XP, Vista and 7. To run a DLL as an EXE on your computer, you need to use a command line.
STEP 1
Press the "Start" button and click "Run."
STEP 2
Type the letters "cmd" into the "Run" dialogue box. A command prompt window appears on your screen.
STEP 3
Type this command line into the command prompt window,"RUNDLL.EXE,". Theis the .dll file name you want to run. Theis the location in the .dll file that can be run via Rundll32. Theare arguments you need in order to run a DLL.
STEP 4
Press "Enter" to run a DLL as an EXE.
Re: Installing EXCEL Addin after JMP 13 InstallationHi
that's a very good question. Usually this information is mentioned in the JMP Deployment Guides | JMP but in JMP 13 the infomation is gone. It was in in the version for JMP 12.
Also the support note 45760 - How to remove and reinstall the Excel add-in for JMP® does not say a word about JMP 13 yet.
