DaeYun has been part of the JMP family since 2018 and loves helping users discover new insights from their data and to see their satisfied faces when they make these discoveries!

In his free time, DaeYun enjoys taking walks with his wife, hiking in the mountains, and watching action movies.

Let’s learn a little more about DaeYun!

Where were you born?

I was born in Busan, which is located on the southeastern tip of the Korean peninsula. Busan is a metropolitan city that has 15 districts and one county. It has an area of 765.94 km², representing 0.8% of the whole of the Korean Peninsula.

Where do you live/work now?

I live and work in Seoul where JMP Korea's office is located. Seoul is the capital of Korea with more than 600 years of history. It is the heart of Korea's culture and education as well as politics and economics.

What was your first job?

My first, and current job, is a data analyst. I joined the credit card company LG Card, which merged with ShinHan Card, about 25 years ago. ShinHan Credit Company is the No. 1 market share company. My first job was developing credit scores using SPSS and SAS. And during those 20 years, I gained experience in the CRM department and analyzing big data over 10 GB. While working for ShinHan Card, I received my Six Sigma Master Black Belt certification.

"Sword in fire" (my wife's description).

Name one thing most of your colleagues would be surprised to know.

My age – I’m 52 years old.

What book are you reading?

"Regression Analysis by Example" by Samprit Chatterjee to review linear and non-linear modeling theory and examples.

What is your favorite movie genre?

I like watching movies very much. I think I’ve watched more than 1,600 movies. The action genre is my favorite.

What is the first web page you go to when you start work?

Mostly InsideJMP or my calendar filled with my schedule.

If you could have a dinner party with five famous people, who would they be?

Steve Jobs, Warren Buffett, Elon Musk, Martin Luther King Jr, Volodymyr Zelenskyy

What is your favorite podcast to listen to?

"Economy in Your Hands", a Korean Economy Podcast

Name one JMP-related achievement that you’re proud of.

I was the first to present a JMP Live demo and process automation demo using connecting database in Korea to help my customers to gain insight using my statistical knowledge.

Oh Wow! Tell your nephew that data and analytics are super cool. And that many famous scientists and mathematicians loved and played music (in-fact there are some articles about the connection between the two https://www.nobelprize.org/symphony-of-science/).

My son also was interested in taekwondo and participated in a local dojang for a couple of years.
