Sort Fit Y by X Graph by Mean valueI am trying to sort the X-axis order of a fit Y by X graph using the value of the mean.
I was able to sort the Oneway Annova Table from highest mean (Healdsburg) to the lowest (Sacramento)
But I would like to show that graphically as well with Healdsburg on the left, and then as moving to the right the means decreasing until we are at the lowest mean (Sacramento).
This would be a nice way to see all the means in a visually appealing descending order.
Thank you,
lovy
Re: Sort Fit Y by X Graph by Mean valueRight click on the axis the select "Edit Value Order" to manually assign a custom order to your labels. Unlike graph builder, one-way (to the best of my knowledge) doesn't' support reordering based on a metric.
Re: Sort Fit Y by X Graph by Mean valueHere's a hack: Use Graph Builder to change the column order before going into Fit Y by X.
Make the graph with City on X, Price on Y. Order the X Axis by Descending or Ascending Price. Then right-click on the axis and choose "Save Value Order." The Cities will be ordered by mean price when you go into Fit Y by X.
And I agree @Lovy_Singh , it would be nice to have this as a feature in Fit Y by X / Oneway.
Re: Sort Fit Y by X Graph by Mean valueWow, that's a great hack!
Re: Sort Fit Y by X Graph by Mean valueI LOVE @Jordan_Hiller 's hack. I too believe it should be in Fit Y by X. So much so that I wrote a script to do this back in 2007. I called it the "Super Pareto" chart. I have included the script here, but a few caveats:
The x-axis must be a character string (not just ordinal/nominal).
Since this was written so long ago (v7 or v8, probably), that there is an issue with reading a list into the Value Order column property (line 84 of the code). I don't have time to fix that right now, but maybe a scripter can update this and fix that issue.
There are some old commands that still work, but should probably be updated, like Dialog is used instead of New Window.
Re: Sort Fit Y by X Graph by Mean valueHere's a dodgy fix/update. Works on Big Class in JMP EA18. I fully admit I didn't get what the trim thing was doing, so I commented it out.
