Format preferences questionCustomer asks if it's possible to change the format of numerical values presented in a JMP report through JMP's preferences (ex. change model reports to show only 3 decimal places). I know each individual report can be formatted, but this is tedious to change each time and I am not able to see a preference setting for this, but does anyone know if this is possible?
Thanks,
Mark
Re: Format preferences questionThe File > Preferences in JMP do not accommodate this request.

There is a new idea in development to provide such customization. @julian might speak to it.
Re: Format preferences questionSemantic formatting might be what this user needs. I haven't used it very much, but you can specify formats for report tables by column or row and have these persist across reports. For example, this semantic format sets the Summary Statistics in a Distribution report to be fixed decimal. Note the wildcard in the Outline Path to get it to apply to a data table column of any name. Clicking the little question marks brings up a helpful list of operators to help specify the scope of application.

Re: Format preferences question@Ross_Metusalem is on the right path here. The problem with "I want to globally format all numbers to XXXX format" is what do you about the mean of:

Semantic formatting is our response to try to give some help but also recognize the vagaries of this issue.
Re: Format preferences questionThanks for drawing my attention to semantic formatting, I was not aware of this feature.
