Last week, some of you traveled for almost 24 hours straight to be a part of JMP reunion. Meanwhile, I was able to commute from just down the road in Durham, NC. It’s pretty incredible that we are one united company, composed of people from many countries, cultures and backgrounds.
Considering our position as a global company, it is only fitting that we celebrate an upcoming holiday TOGETHER - Earth Day is this Saturday, April 22. We are encouraging all JMP employees to take a few hours out of your schedule this week to go and spend some time loving on our home planet. There are SO many ways to celebrate Earth Day, but we’ve compiled a few ideas here to give you some inspiration.
- Show your community, neighborhood, or local park some love by picking up trash and plastic. Keep a special eye out for any plastics and other recyclables!
- Swap out some of your household products with more sustainable options. Ever heard of the “If You Care” product line? Everything’s biodegradable and does not use chemicals or plastic. The company’s motto: “We care simply because it’s the right thing to do!” Check out this space on the User Community for more eco-friendly brands beloved by JMPers around the world.
- Beautify your yard by planting a tree or some native plants. Planting a tree is a relatively simple act that benefits the environment for years to come. If planting trees or wildflowers, be sure to look up what is native to your area! Native plants are restorative to local ecosystems and help local animals and pollinators.
- Visit a local Farmer’s Market! Support a local farmer by eating locally grown food! It’s so much better for the environment.
- Do you have a bag of clothes and used items in your house just waiting to be donated? Instead of trashing these things, consider donating them to a local thrift store or shelter. This keeps items out of our landfills – remember, your trash is another’s treasure!
- From @katie_stone, check out this helpful article about growing your own food at home. Even in small spaces, it’s totally doable. (Hit me up if you’re local to Cary and want some tomato seeds)!
If you decide to participate in any of these activities (or others) this week – let us know! Share a picture here or on LinkedIn and let us see how you and your family are celebrating Earth Day this year.

Celebrating Earth Day is just one way that JMP participates in the Data for Green Initiative. This is just one day of many that allows us to celebrate our global citizenship together as a company.
