Display dynamic data table in report

However, that was asked in 2012 so I was wondering if there was a new and more direct solution to this.

 

Personally, I am trying to make a dashboard with graphs that are hierarchal filters. However, when I use the graphs as hierarchal filters, there is no selection or updating within the corresponding data table. Is there some way to make my data table display with the effects of the hierarchal/local data filters in the data table? Or even just display the selection of the hierarchal filter within the table?

I agree that this would be nice. Interestingly the data table reacts when you exclude/hide the rows. I believe the reason for this is that in the first filter you still see the full data and just select a part of it. Only the hierarchical filter and the other reports are using the filtered data like it is done in the local data filter - With one difference: One can see the selection highlighted in the data table. This should be done as well in a dashboard or any other future hierarchical filter.

That means: first filter selects corresponding rows in the data table. Second (hierarchical) filter selects only the now selected data in the data table, and if you then select data in the report it will adjust the selection to only those rows. Relieving the selection in the report will switch back to the hirarchical filter selection and so forth.
