Business processes are a combination of systems and people. For the most part, we’ll focus on systems and technology this week, but we can’t do that in a vacuum; we need to look at the impact of people on these processes and how changes in processes might affect people and how they work as well.
The systems
•GIDB – Our system of record for Annual License Customers
•ORION/COMIT – Our system of record for processing won opportunities
•Salesforce – Our system of record for managing interactions with our customers and prospective customers
•WorkDay – Our system of record for HR data, including compensation
Jon W: we have to make this work in order to be able to continue to grow our business globally. There is no "plan B". The bus is here and we have to get on because there's not another bus coming.
The teams
While there are 3 teams involved in our discussions this week, we need to keep in mind that our we want to improve efficiency across the JMP organization to enable a more efficient sales process and allow for continued growth.
Project goals:
Standardize on the use of SFDC globally
A consistent environment and approach for:
- Routing, processing, and management of leads and contacts.
- Creating,, validating, and managing account records.
- Creating, managing, and processing opportunities…including quoting, approvals, splits, etc.
Improve operational efficiencies for business operations, sales representatives, marketing and SFDC administration team.
- Improving data quality
- Automating processes
- Removing duplicate efforts (JOI)
Establish SFDC as the system of record for team earned credit.
- Synchronizing with Invoice Curr
- Addressing splits, net new, and cancellations.
Creation of a training plan to empower users throughout the JMP organization
- On-boarding of new employees
- Training videos and other resources
- Global standardization of processes and procedures
Approach for each session
In each session, we’ll evaluate current processes – what’s working, what’s not, what challenges we might have in scaling it as business grows. We’ll then look at how we might re-invent the process by looking it through a lens of technology and the capabilities of the systems we have at our disposal. This will give us a plan of action for configuring Salesforce to support these new processes.
