Excel Profiler - retrieving models from excel to use in simular excelsWe created an excel profile model in a spreadsheet, we would like to use the same model specifications in another similar spreadsheet - e.g. we did it for a spreadsheet based on 2018 data and would like to the same on a newer 2020 spreadsheet.
We don't want to re-specify the models and we also don't want to copy all the spreadsheet tables. The input and output fields are in exactly the same position. We hoped we could copy the specs to a similar excel and do some sort of a refresh.
Data TableGraphicsRe: Excel Profiler - retrieving models from excel to use in simular excelsYour solution when the spreadsheet are relatively simple would have worked. The excel we run the Excel Profiler on has a number of sheets (14) the formulas are based on. We get a spreadsheets for a number of African countries. I hoped we could easily install the models on the different spreadsheets. Perhaps we have to look at visual basic.NET Ian proposes. The spreadsheet are big and the Excel Profiler is rather slow on it. Perhaps we must convert the spreadsheets to a number of tables/matrices and run the profiler on them. Thanks for your input
Re: Excel Profiler - retrieving models from excel to use in simular excelsIf the column titles are the same, then why not concatenate the two tables (the one from 2018 and the one from 2020). Run the model from the 2018 data and save the prediction formula - you should get predictions for 2020. If you want the same model structure, but to re-estimate the coefficients, create a source column when you concatenate the tables and put the source column in the "By" box and you will get the model estimated for each of the years separately.
Re: Excel Profiler - retrieving models from excel to use in simular excelsThis doesn't seem to involve JMP directly. You could use the JSL 'Copy File()' command to do what it says, but you would still then have to delete the worksheets that you don't require some other way. I assume the whole thing could be done via Visual Basic .NET.
