Which, if any, of our customers are using Palantir Foundry to build predictive models and how are they doing it?Panasonic (Sparks, NV) is piloting Palantir as we speak. They have a data transformation team that has cross functional engineering membership. The primary objective is to evolve to Industry 4.0. The ideal is to create a digital duplicate of the factory that is easier to access and perform analytics. Their production lines are cellular and have many process steps per cell. Each cell has many nodes where data are available. They want easy access to all these data with established relationships and properties -Palantir are calling this ontology. We understand that this front end part of an analytical workflow is their biggest pain point. We have some confidence that accessing Palantir curated data from JMP will be an improvement to current state. We also understand that they do not see Foundry as a replacement for JMP. What we as well as our contacts don't know is to what extent Palantir Foundry can perform tasks like predictive modeling that could be performed in JMP Pro?
Which of our customers are developing ml or predictive models in Palantir Foundry? How are they doing it? How easy is it?
@martindemel what other tasks is the customer you referred to in your Anyone come across interfacing JMP with Palantir? post performing in Foundry?
We are looking for talking points before our meeting with our engineering director contact next week. Any info is helpful:)
Thanks!
Re: Which, if any, of our customers are using Palantir Foundry to build predictive models and how are they doing it?Hi Jason, I couldn't get an answer from the IT person yet. But the department which was using it years ago is not using it anymore...I'll let you know when I get another update!
Re: Which, if any, of our customers are using Palantir Foundry to build predictive models and how are they doing it?This is excellent, Florian!! Definitely interested in what you learn from your contact. Thank you!!
Re: Which, if any, of our customers are using Palantir Foundry to build predictive models and how are they doing it?Hi @Jason_Wiggins ,
Lanxess have been my customer most of the past 3 years. When I started at JMP back then, basically a single person was establishing the connection to Palantir with @martindemel 's help. Goal was to directly access data.
I never heard them talk about using Palantir for modeling. In fact, somewhat later (August 2020) I spoke to the IT person/Data Engineer who prepared data pipelines for the engineers and he said they would transition to OsiPi (which they are actually using today), since Palantir was "too small and hard to standardize" (his words).
I can reach out to my contact there to see whether Palantir still exists and what it is used for next week.
best,
Florian

Re: Which, if any, of our customers are using Palantir Foundry to build predictive models and how are they doing it?Hi Jason,
It was Lanxess, a chemical customer that days. They did a presentation in CHEManager last year: https://www.chemanager-online.com/en/webinars/lanxess-inorganic-pigments-establishing-statistical-decision-making-across-organization (guess you need to register to watch the recording). I think @Florian_Vogt and/or @Jonas_Rinne have been worked with them after they moved in another territory.
As far I know Palantir could do certain models but you do not have much flexibility. I believe FDE can be of a big plus there.
Hope that helps a bit.
Martin
