Setting Parameter Boundaries in a Formula ColumnI'm scratching my head over something and I can't seem to come up with an answer.
In a formula column, you can provide the parameters and starting points optimization using nonlinear, but it doesn't seem to be possible to enter parameter bounds (so you don't have to enter them directly in Nonlinear).
Does anybody know of a way to do this? or if it's possible?
Thanks!

Re: Setting Parameter Boundaries in a Formula ColumnThere is a Parameter Bounds JSL argument to Nonlinear. There is also a Set Parameter message you can send to the platform, See for example, using the Chemical Kineitcs.jmp example data set

nl=nonlinear(
Y( :"Velocity (y)"n ),
X( :"Model (x)"n ),
Parameter Bounds( b1( 0.25, 2 ), b2( 5, 20 ) ),
Newton
);
nl << set parameter(b1 = 0.5);
nl << set parameter(b2 = 10);
nl << finish;
Re: Setting Parameter Boundaries in a Formula ColumnBut, to answer your actual question, there is not a way to specify the boundaries in the formula column.
An idea on how to do this:
Create a new column property that holds expressions for the parameter bounds, which you could query and then apply after the nonlinear platform is called. This would require using a fully JSL approach to launching the nonlinear platform, though.
Re: Setting Parameter Boundaries in a Formula ColumnThanks for both of these, Sam! Yeah - I'm thinking custom formula columns or an AA in the app I'm working on will be the way I need to go.
