The Global Academic team finished 2022 with TSR and new course adoptions that exceeded our targets. We welcomed new users and courses at many top universities including UC Berkeley, University of Michigan, Cornell University, Ohio State University, Texas A&M University, UT Knoxville, UCLA and globally at Polytechnic University of Milan, Sorbonne, HTW Berlin and IIT Bombay.

Overall in 2022, we learned of 791 new academic course adoptions of JMP across all regions. How do we collect this data? We collect course information from our contacts on campus and at conferences and through our annual Faculty Use Survey that we have sent out every fall since 2012. Kevin Potcner (@Potcner) reports that more than 60% of new courses are from departments within engineering and science disciplines. The survey gathers other very important information such as student enrollment, tools/platforms used, general feedback and feature requests, and information that helps us to continue developing better resources for the classroom. If you’d like to connect with academic users in your area, please contact the Academic team.
Q4 highlights from around the world
AMERICAS
Purdue University. The Department of Statistics at Purdue University invited the JMP Academic team to deliver an on-campus workshop following the INFORMS annual conference. Nearly 100 students and faculty, the grand majority of whom had never used JMP, joined for an overview of JMP and a deep dive into predictive modeling capabilities with Ross Metusalem (@Ross_Metusalem). Numerous attendees were impressed and commented at how easy and interactive predictive modeling was in JMP compared to their current tool (mostly Python).
Learning Library Update. The Learning Library has received several important updates. All one-page guides have been updated along with their corresponding short videos for JMP and JMP Pro 17 and are live at jmp.com/learn. Other enhancements include the four sample size guides have been redone to reflect the major improvements to the Sample Size Explorers platforms in JMP 17. In addition, three new entries have been added to the library: prediction intervals, tolerance intervals, and equivalence tests.
EMEA
iGEM Grand Jamboree is the premier global synthetic biology gathering in the world, with over 3,500 synthetic biology teachers, researchers, industry investors and startups. Each year, more than 350 student teams from 40 countries compete and demonstrate their ideas to tackle humanity’s most pressing problems, including the climate crisis, food security, human health, foundational advances, biomanufacturing and more. Owen Jonathan (@Owen_Jonathan), newly hired Associate Systems Engineer for Europe and synthetic biology expert, along with Volker Kraft (@volker_kraft) and Paolo Chiappa (@paolo_chiappa) attended the event for the first time in Q4 and provided a live workshop on applications with the new EasyDOE platform.
Paolo Chiappa reports that Q4 was also a busy period for workshops and lectures to both existing and prospect accounts. Hundreds of students and faculty members were exposed to JMP at universities including University of Southampton, University of Aveiro, and University of Manchester. Most were targeted at chemical engineering and biotechnology departments.
ASIA
NIPER (National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research), Raebareli is one of the top Indian pharmacy universities, decided to explore JMP as part of their teaching. They are heavy users of Design Expert and Minitab software. Academic team demonstrated the capabilities of JMP for Design of Experiments, QbD, Stability, Dissolution, Prediction and Design space profiler, & data visualization. With a goal of introducing JMP into their classroom, JMP Student Subscription is being considered for multiple courses.
That's exciting news on the Learning Library! And a huge number of new courses -- Wow! You guys are awesome. (Well, I guess it's "guys+Pany" -- I hope you are all doing well
)
It's great to see that great growth over the past three years! The hard work finally pays off
Congrats to the worldwide Academic Team. You are the seeds to our future growth!
