As we heard in the 2023 Company Kick-off, JMP is looking to double our number of intern hires in 2023. JMP internships allow students the ability to explore a possible future career, network with professionals in the field, and gain valuable experience they wouldn't get in the classroom. Interns are a valuable resource to JMP as well, helping us invest in our future success by discovering new talent and potential leaders.
Our newest series 'Meet The Interns' will showcase these bright individuals – their work, their hobbies, and more! If you are an intern that would like to be featured, fill out this form.
Meet The Interns: Ben Ingham
Manager: Ian Cox (@ian_jmp)
Supervisors: Phil Kay (@Phil_Kay), Volker Kraft (@volker_kraft)
Ben Ingham (@Bingh94) is a Ph.D. student at the University of Manchester looking to tackle challenges in biosurfactant production. He hopes to continue applying his interest in data analysis to tackle environmental challenges.
Before coming to work for the company, he used JMP, especially for Design of Experiments (DOE). You can read this paper he co-authored about a project using JMP for DOE.
During his internship, he will research DOE case studies for synthetic biology and create case studies and demos using Functional Data Explorer in JMP® Pro 17, which are relevant to JMP customers in biotech and pharma. Ben plans to share some of his findings on LinkedIn during his internship.
He is also an avid painter (ask him about his miniature paintings!) and a musician.
What made you want to intern at JMP?
I've been an active user of JMP for around 5 years, starting in my time working in Upstream Process Development at Elanco, which I've carried on (religiously!) using and telling every person I meet to use. I believe that everyone can produce a meaningful analysis of their data and JMP is a great tool for it!
As a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up?
An astronaut
