I have the 2011 book, but the data files are no longer in the Sample Data set with JMP 17.
I looked at the first couple chapters on OReilly. I am not sure the data sets in the book are part of JMP Sample Data. For example, Gazelle in Chapter 1 and TensileStrength in Chapter 2. I have never seen them in Sample Data. The author did not mention the data come with JMP Sample Data. Based on my experience with reviewing JMP related books (other than JMP Documentation) published by SAS, I have not seen books use JMP Sample Data as examples. The book points to the following link
