What inspired this Wish List Request? A customer recently evaluating JMP Live 17 asked if we can use Push API control chart warnings instead of the current email warnings that were introduced in JMP Live 16. Being able to send the warning via a Push API to mobile devices was seen as preferred in terms of getting the timely alert noticed by the right individuals, instead of relying on them picking out an email alert from their already huge email inboxes. Note that emails as an alert communication vehicle seems to be losing popularity. Internally we can see this as it is no common to use many other types of alerts to indicate project and other work alerts, such as with MSTeams, JIRA, Salesforce and even Text!
Please describe the new or improved feature or solution you would like to see. While there is not a current capability to do anything other than email control chart warnings in JMP Live 17 today, a possible solution would be to integrate with a third-party Push API service to send our JMP live control chart triggered warnings to the mobile devices. There are many out there such as Power Automate and Notifications from Microsoft Power Platforms. Note that past JMP Intern Harishmad was successful in using JMP JSL REST API to send requests out of JMP as seen in his Community write-up. This could be something assisted within JMP (like we do for scheduling automated data updates in JMP Live 17) or could be somethng where we give exmaple scripting and point to the vetted third-party Push API services in our library/mart. This is a new request that is not in the Wish List or Community history. Product Mgmt/Technical Resources (Dan Valente, Dieter Pisot, Alex Lippincott and Stan Koporowski) were all contacted earlier to discuss current and future options on this idea for a current customer JMP Live sales evaluation. Product Management requested that this get added to the JMP Wish List.
What would the value be to you and/or other users if this new feature is provided? This would help JMP Live Sales as API Push notification options make us more relevant and modern to fit into IT analytic automation and communication plans and expectations. Also this capability can be a big addition to other JMP products that could make use of API Push notifications for automated analysis (process control, capability, and screening).
Is this an external customer request? Yes, from Igor Viatek (IT Contact) at Diamond Foundries in San Francisco, CA (NWT1 Account). However please Contact the NWT1 Sales/Technical Team contacts first (Rene' Kleinhans and Scott Wise) before we reach out to the customer to get more information. Note that this is an ongoing active JMP Live evaluation and negotiation sales deal.
Is there a competitive software package that has this feature or solution that we should be aware of? There are many examples of other both client and enterprise analytic software packages that allow API Push notification integration. The closest to home example would be SAS Viya/SAS Visual Statistics which offers direct and indirect API push notification options.
Will this impact a renewal, expansion, or adoption at a customer, and does this put an account at risk if we do not address this?Potentially Yes.While the current customer has many important evaluation points (cost, scope, and infrastructure), having this API Push Notification/Integration feature made available now or in the near future could make the different in opting for JMP Live for analytic automation over a competitor.
