What inspired this Wish List Request?
Several customers have commented that they have control limits and the timing of their updating managed via internal business processes. So, they are not re-calculated every time new data is added. This means that, like spec limits, control limits exist in external files that must be imported and manually (or via jsl) added as column properties to the relevant data columns in a JMP table.
Please describe the new or improved feature or solution you would like to see.
In the Analyze > Manage Limits Platform, we currently support (as of v17) Spec limits, Process Screening, MSA, and Detection Limits. The request is to have identical capabilities as are currently found for Spec limits in the Manage Limits platform for Control Limits. This would include providing LCL/UCL, Show limits check boxes, and units in a grid of number edit boxes, and the ability to load those parameters from a table of limits. Further having Action recorder and Workflow Builder aware of these changes to aid in script/workflow generation.
What would the value be to you and/or other users if this new feature is provided?
This is a pain point for customers in regulated environments (biotech and semiconductor both have these situations as well as any regulated manufacturing environment).
Is this an external customer request?
Corning - Erwin manufacturing group
Lautte - new account just purchased licenses but have highlighted this issues as gating to broader adoption of the tool or any similar tools (i.e. JMP Live).
Is there a competitive software package that has this feature or solution that we should be aware of?
The customers have highlighted that they generally have to hard code their control charts because of this issue. They want to use jump more broadly for this application, but can't due to the mis-match in control limits between their single source of truth and our on the fly calculations.
Will this impact a renewal, expansion, or adoption at a customer, and does this put an account at risk if we do not address this?
JMP Live adoption at these sites as well as expansion of use in the manufacturing bases will be impacted by not supporting this.
