Pasar de un químico de desarrollo de laboratorio a un científico de datos fue probablemente la mayor transición. Empecé ayudando a colegas con problemas estadísticos. Sabía que era para mí porque no se sentía como trabajo cuando ayudaba a las personas con sus datos.
¿Tuviste alguna inquietud acerca de hacer un cambio? Si es así, ¿qué son ellos?
Tal vez estaba un poco preocupado de que me estaba moviendo hacia algo más especializado, donde podría haber menos oportunidades en el futuro. ¡También me preocupaba no saber cómo hacer el trabajo! Pero tenía muchas ganas de aprender.

Fue gradual, pero aproveché todas las oportunidades para "hacer el trabajo" antes de tener el trabajo. Si alguien necesitaba ayuda y no sabía cómo hacerlo, aceptaba el trabajo y luego aprendía cómo hacerlo. Aprendí mucho haciendo lo que se necesitaba. Más tarde obtuve una formación formal a través de una maestría a tiempo parcial.

Había pasado algún tiempo con otras personas que trabajaban en el puesto, tanto en la empresa como en otras empresas a través de reuniones en conferencias. Fue una gran manera de entender lo que era posible y me encendió con pasión por seguir ese camino.
¿Quiénes fueron las personas que fueron fundamentales para ayudarlo a hacer el cambio de trabajo con éxito? ¿Cómo lo ayudaron?
Mis gerentes fueron muy instrumentales. En cada etapa me apoyaron porque tenía claro lo que quería hacer y cómo sería valioso para la empresa.
