Avez-vous effectué une transition de carrière majeure? Si oui, qu'est-ce que c'était et comment avez-vous su que vous étiez prêt pour un changement ?
Passer d'un chimiste du développement de laboratoire à un scientifique des données a probablement été la plus grande transition. J'avais commencé à aider mes collègues à résoudre des problèmes statistiques. Je savais que c'était pour moi parce que ça ne ressemblait pas à du travail quand j'aidais les gens avec leurs données.
Avez-vous eu des inquiétudes à propos d'un changement? Si oui, quels étaient-ils ?
J'étais peut-être un peu inquiet de me diriger vers quelque chose de plus spécialisé, où il pourrait y avoir moins d'opportunités à l'avenir. J'avais aussi peur de ne pas savoir comment faire le travail ! Mais j'avais très envie d'apprendre.
Quelles ont été les premières choses que vous avez faites lorsque vous avez décidé que vous étiez prêt à changer de travail ?
C'était progressif mais j'ai saisi toutes les occasions de "faire le travail" avant d'avoir le poste. Si quelqu'un avait besoin d'aide et que je ne savais pas comment le faire, j'acceptais le travail et j'apprenais ensuite comment le faire. J'ai beaucoup appris en faisant ce qui était nécessaire. Plus tard, j'ai suivi une formation formelle via une maîtrise à temps partiel.

Avant de décider du nouveau rôle, avez-vous passé du temps avec quelqu'un qui fait ce travail ? Si oui, comment était cette expérience ?
J'avais passé du temps avec d'autres personnes travaillant dans ce rôle, à la fois dans l'entreprise et dans d'autres entreprises lors de réunions lors de conférences. C'était une excellente façon de comprendre ce qui était possible et cela m'a donné envie de suivre cette voie.
Quelles sont les personnes qui vous ont aidé à réussir votre changement d'emploi, comment vous ont-elles aidé ?
Mes managers ont été les plus instrumentaux. À chaque étape, ils m'ont soutenu parce que j'étais clair sur ce que je voulais faire et en quoi cela serait utile à l'entreprise.
Quels conseils donneriez-vous aux employés de JMP qui envisagent de changer de rôle ?
Trouvez votre passion.
Parce que nous aimons les belles histoires, nous voulons savoir comment votre carrière a évolué et raconter ces histoires à nos collègues : l'évolution de votre carrière qui vous a finalement amené chez JMP ou même comment une fois arrivés chez JMP, ils ont effectué une transition majeure.
