Discovery Summit Japan 2022 was held online on Nov. 17 and 18 featuring two Plenary sessions, one special session, 27 paper presentations, and two poster presentations (you can find presentations here).
There were 805 registrations and 373 attendees, excluding JMP staff, in total, with additional prospects and customers expected to watch the sessions continuously on-demand in the JMP Community.
Hiroe TSUBAKI, Director-General, The Institute of Statistical MathematicsHiroe TSUBAKI, Director-General of The Institute of Statistical Mathematics, was a Plenary speaker. The session title was "Current Situation and Challenges in Japan That We Have To Confront Data Science."
He explained the history of data science culture and the challenges in Japan. He also mentioned that JMP can be a tool to bring people to data science worlds and can create more time for data scientists to read the data rather than clean up data or make graphs.
One steering committee member had great feedback on the talk. “Dr. Tsubaki's keynote speech was excellent. He clearly explained ‘Why Discovery Summit?’, and he also explained clearly why the Discovery Summit is being held. His perspective of the whole world is good. I think it is good to see the world as a whole.”
John Sall did not just greet the audience but also showed his enthusiasm as a developer by explaining the results of the past year directly to users. The sessions by JMP developers in the US were also good.
And the introductions of new features for JMP 17 by Japanese engineers were also interesting.
Unfortunately, we could not hear from customers’ directly this year, so we hope to organize Discovery Summit Japan 2023 as in-person.
Each of Japanese engineers introduced key features of JMP/ JMP Pro 17 and JMP Clinical. Hideo OI, JMP Japan, introduced new features related to genomic analyses.
Sachiko Ishibashi, JMP Japan, manages breakout sessions.
Attendees sent reactions after Yuichi KATSUMURA, JMP Japan, finished his session.
