What inspired this Wish List Request? Please describe the current issue that needs improvement, or the new problem to be solved that is not easy or possible right now.
JMP’s credo is statistical discovery, and with the introduction of Easy DOE, it has made guided analysis easy for newer users of DOE. Similarly, other areas of guided analytics would be in Quality and Process and Hypothesis Testing. This is an important area since the SMEs (often with a non-statistical background) themselves do the analysis as process owners and custodians of data. Even though there is Control Chart builder (Pro feature) available, it does not provide the analytical scenario or the use case. Similarly, hypothesis testing and its need for normality in deciding the type of HT is a challenge for the new or unseasoned user, often resorting to incorrect test methods. Also this would be an easy way of introducing the topic to students as a teaching/learning aid.
What would the value be to you and/or other users if this new feature is provided?
with the aid of a decision tree would be an easier manner of doing this. As a guided wizard, the steps can often be cumbersome for this type of use case.
Is this an external customer request?
No. But many of the users of competitive products who consider JMP might ask for this feature.
Is there a competitive software package that has this feature or solution that we should be aware of?
Minitab, a major competitor to JMP, has had The Assistant feature since version 17.0 and has had it for the past four versions (current version 21.3). A publicly available demo here and screenshot attached from version 21.3; and comparable features as in several other products in the G2 listing.
Will this impact a renewal, expansion, or adoption at a customer, and does this put an account at risk if we do not address this?
This feature can coax Minitab, GraphPad Prism, and other G2 listers users towards JMP.
