Mastering JMP CommitteeMastering JMP Committee Mission
Last updated Feb. 3, 2021
Background
Mastering JMP is a webinar series that aims to inspire JMP users to use JMP more effectively and give them the confidence to use it to tackle specific business, research or academic analytic challenges.
JMP Systems Engineers present complimentary, live webinar demos using case studies similar to those customers may encounter. Attendees ask questions during the webinar to help clarify if and how the techniques may apply to their situations. Then, after the live demo, they can view the demo video and download the JMP Journals and files to try the techniques themselves.
Mastering JMP Committee Mission
To help guide and grow a standard, consistent Mastering JMP public webinar program and topics to benefit JMP users worldwide. Committee will be organized and led by JMP Customer Care.
Composition
The Committee will comprise a working group of 6-8 Systems Engineers who will serve for a period of 2 years and meet quarterly.
Reps for 2021 and 2022 are listed in red below:
Purpose
Members of the Committee will help the Customer Care Team choose topics, case studies and content for basic Mastering JMP sessions to be presented in local languages for JMP. They will serve as liaisons with their regional SEs, Technical Enablement Engineers and Sales Teams. They will work with and help guide the Customer Care Team to:
- Design a consistent schedule that integrates sessions into a predicable program for customers.
- Review and advise on a “curriculum” that will form the basis of the content for Mastering JMP.
- Guide awareness by local AEs to the program offering so they can promote the sessions, as appropriate, to customers.
- Contribute to identifying metrics for success.
- Share best practices for webinars among SEs worldwide.

Re: Mastering JMP Committee@gail_massari Thanks - I can do the proposed times on Mar 2 or 3.

Here are notes from the meeting for you to review, comment, correct, supplement. The meeting was just the first, to get to know each other, start talking and try to understand the different needs of each market.
Mastering JMP Committee Introductory Meeting 02 March 2021
Attending: Christian Stopp, Pin Hu, Ben Francis, Jason Chen, Hadley Myers, Naohiro Masukawa
Purposes of the meeting were:
- Meet each other online, despite the time difference. (In future, we may decide to have two separate meetings, so no one must get up too early or work too late.)
- Determine who presents Mastering live sessions or plan to try to present Mastering JMP sessions regularly.
- Determine types of Mastering and follow-up.
- Remind people that description of some kind should be included with videos so 1) viewer knows what to expect and 2) the videos are more easily found by search engines.
- Summarize that in the US we have found a regular schedule of Basic sessions is useful because 1) users can get in the habit of attending and 2) SEs and Sales Teams can direct users to sessions rather than do a special session for one customer.
- Identify next steps.
General Notes:
- We could all share ideas about how we can point Sales to the live and video assets.
- China audience does not need live repeated sessions. They want new information and presentations.
- Europe and UK topics would have to grow to present more regularly. Gail will talk to Maria/Malcolm about that and also consider more regular shorter sessions (perhaps ½ hour, more focused case study) per Hadley’s suggestion.
Re: Mastering JMP CommitteeHi everyone,
Sorry for not attending in meeting of 02 March.
Related with the meeting, I'd like to share two things of JMP Korea.
1. As Gail shared, JMP Korea is running Youtube and there are records of Mastering JMP(Usually we say JMP Webinar)
(648) JMP Korea - YouTube
2. I am running JMP Blog in Naver. Naver is most popular portal in Korea. I know that market share of Naver is over 70% in Korea. Its market share is several times than google in Korea. I share and communication with our customers through Naver.
and there is one journal file linked all journal files and records of Mastering JMP(JMP Webinar). Of course, this was made in Korean. But you could check overall formats and contents.

I hope to meet all of you in next meeting.
Thanks
Ikju
Re: Mastering JMP Committee@PIN @IkjuShin @benfrancis @Masukawa_Nao @HadleyMyers @Jason_Wiggins @ChristianStopp @jason_chen Next meeting for Committee. I suggest we break it into 2 sections. US/UK/EU meeting first at 11 am Eastern Time and Asia meeting second at 4 pm (16:00) Korea/Japan time. By meeting separately, people don't have to wake too early or work too late. Perhaps one person from Europe (Hadley or Ben) could also attend the Asia session , which would be 7 am for Ben and 8 am for Hadley, I believe
Please let me know how these dates look.
US/UK/EU
Tue June 15 or Th June 17
11 am Et, 9 am MT, 16:00 UK, 17:00 EU
Asia
Mon June 21 or Th June 24
16:00 Korea/Japan, 15:00 China, 14:00 Singapore, 7 am UK, 8 am EU
Tentative Agenda
Please suggest any topics you would like to add.
1. Update us on your NEXT STEPS from last meeting.
2. Look at Korean blog and You tube. IkJu, thank you for the update!3.
3. Discuss scheduling Developers present deep dives into some JMP capabilities as a new type of Tutorial. For example, Laura Castro-Schilo participated in Mastering JMP Structural Equation Models session and was very helpful. Our JMP Steering Committee Members value the Tutorials at Discovery. Even though the users would not follow along with materials, will the word Tutorial work or does it imply following along? Is the word seminar better?
- Do you think Developer Tutorials would be valuable to your users as an off-shoot of Mastering JMP?
- If you think they would be valuable, which topics and/or Developers do you think would be valuable presenters to your users?
Goals of Sessions: 1) Provide JMP users with Developer expertise about capabilities they have helped developed in JMP, what they have been developed to achieve, how/why JMP techniques (aka platforms) use specific statistical approaches, and which capabilities are most statistically useful for certain situations. 2) To reinforce the expertise and accessibility of JMP technical, non-sales staff to users. 3) To provide developers a way to interact with customers in ways they and customers found useful pre-COVID.
4. Update team on what you have offered as part of Mastering JMP so far this year, plan to offer,
5. New ideas, issues you are facing and suggestions for presenting Mastering demos to customers.
Re: Mastering JMP CommitteeResponses:
Jason W. : June 15
Christian: June 15 or June 17
Hadley: Any date
Jason C: June 24 Update 6/7/2021 NO JASON HAS CHINA SUMMIT
Ikju : June 21 or June 24 but June 24 is better
Naohiro: June 21 or June 24 are OK. However I am supposed to provide customers a seminar by 16:00 on both days, so I may be a little late to join the meeting.
Pin: June 24
Re: Mastering JMP CommitteeNote from @Jeff_Perkinson about the value in segmenting materials for users vs prospects:
As we grow regionally we should begin to think of two groups: users and not-yet-users (that is, prospects), instead of a single monolithic audience: customers.
This will help us as we create and promote programs to make sure that the messages are appropriately targeted to those audiences.
For example, if we are delivering appropriate content to the appropriate audience then not-yet-users would likely be overwhelmed at content targeted for those who are already using the software and looking for tutorials and instructions on how to use it more effectively.
Likewise, a user, looking for details on a specific platform should be disappointed in the features and benefits demo that we deliver to someone we are trying to convince that JMP is a good choice for them as they won’t get the level of detail that are looking for.
So, I’d encourage you to think about these distinctions not only in designing the content for webcasts but also in the navigation on the website and the promotion/recruitment for them.
Thanks!
