Looking forward to the session @alisa_h_lowery !
Every November, Native American Heritage Month, (also referred to as “American Indian Heritage Month”), is celebrated to recognize the diverse cultures, rich histories, accomplishments, and contributions of Native Americans. The day after Thanksgiving is the annual National Native American Heritage Day, which falls on Friday, Nov. 26 this year.
See this Inside SAS article for more about native nomenclature, resources, and upcoming events.

Watch a lunch and learn
On Monday, Nov. 14, SAS hosted an interactive lunch and learn featuring SAS employees Brandi Davis, Seth Locklear, and Sandon Jacobs (editor's note: JMP's Alisa Hunt-Lowery (@alisa_h_lowery) was unable to participate in this event as previously planned).
This event was an opportunity to learn more about indigenous culture, especially in North Carolina, and get answers to your frequently asked questions.
Two cousins and a Discovery Summit
In honor of Native American Heritage Month, we’re re-reading this story of our JMP colleagues, Alisa Hunt-Lowery & Jessica Marquardt (@J_Marquardt), where they share how they met and some history of their Lumbee tribal heritage and culture!
Alisa has also used her extensive skills and the power of JMP to track the US population of American Indians and Alaska Natives. You can view her work in JMP Public.
