[Presentation summary]
In human pathology, intraductal proliferative lesions of the breast have been divided into three categories conventionally, based on their cytological and architectural features: benign usual ductal hyperplasia (UDH) and atypical ductal hyperplasia (ADH) to ductal carcinoma in situ (DCIS), precursor or non-invasive forms. The author recently found the difference in cellular architecture between UDH and ADH/DCIS, using computerized image analysis and minimum spanning tree method of graph theory.
In human pathology, intraductal proliferative lesions have traditionally been classified as benign conventional ductal epithelial hyperplasia (UDH) to atypical ductal epithelial hyperplasia as precancerous lesions and early cancer based on cytological and histological features. It has been classified into three types: (ADH) and ductal carcinoma in situ (DCIS). These have been determined empirically and intuitively through microscopic observation by pathologists, but recently the author has used computer-based image analysis and the minimum tree method in graph theory to find out that there is a difference between UDH and ADH/DCIS in terms of cytoarchitecture. We found an objective difference between the two.

In the field of human pathology, I have been studying the pathological development process of diseases using quantitative morphology applying geometric probability theory and integral geometry, digital image analysis, and multivariate statistical analysis. There are research papers on early cancers that occur in liver cirrhosis, alveolar epithelium, pancreatic ductal epithelium, and endometrium, their precursor lesions, and liver metastasis of cancer ( https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/7804428/ , https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/7804429/ , https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/8402446/ , https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/8135625/ , https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/7840839/ , https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/10560494/). I am interested in mathematical methods that can be applied to the analysis of cancer developmental processes and their tissue diagnosis, and I am particularly interested in numerical classification methods such as cluster analysis and discriminant analysis. As a statistical analysis platform, I have used Fortran statistical subroutines on mainframes, SPSS and SYSTAT on PCs, and am a JMP user since version 8.
